We are hiring! “New Generation of Academics” Program (nGAP)

The Department of Anthropology and Sociology is located in the Arts Faculty and is a dynamic space with undergraduate and postgraduate students, an emphasis on teaching and learning, community outreach, research and publications. The department has medical anthropology as one of its core areas of specialisation in research, teaching, and supervision. We would therefore like to invite a young South African academic with special interest in and demonstrated experience of doing research in the sub-field of medical anthropology, to apply for this permanent post as Lecturer.  

Minimum requirements include: • a M.A. Degree in Anthropology • a registration for PhD in anthropology • some teaching experience and possibly evidence of publications. Priority will be given to candidates with a research interest in medical anthropology. The successful candidate will be expected to: lecture at the undergraduate level; build up a research and publications profile; community engagement and outreach.
